The condition of Inter midfielder Marcelo Brozovic will be assessed this afternoon in training following a minor calf problem that kept him out of Saturday evening’s friendly match against Villarreal.

This according to today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, who report that the 29-year-old will see how he is feeling and could undergo some medical tests if the problem persists.

Brozovic has not suffered anything more serious than some muscular fatigue to his calf, but it was decided that no risks would be taken with his inclusion in Saturday’s match against Villarreal.

The hope remains that the Croat can already be back to take his place at the base of midfield for Saturday’s Serie A opener against Lecce, but this will depend on his fitness which should be determined soon with close monitoring.

The team returns to training today after having been given the day off, and more should be revealed about Brozovic’s fitness for Saturday’s match based on how he feels in training.
