Inter are hoping that the asking price of Borussia Dortmund defender Manuel Akanji will drop due to his contract situation at Borussia Dortmund.
This according to Italian news outlet Gazzetta.it, who report that the situation between the 26-year-old and his club and that the Nerazzurri are hoping that this will cause the price tag of him of €25 million to drop.
Akanji’s current deal with Dortmund is set to run out at the end of June 2023, and the player has decided not to extend his contract past then.
The Schwarzgelben have signed the likes of Niklas Sule and Nico Schlotterbeck to reinforce their defense, and they have made clear to Akanji that if he is not to extend his contract then they would wish to sell him rather than let him enter the final year of his deal.
The Swiss international was left out of Dortmund’s squad in their Bundesliga opener against Bayer Leverkusen, and his club are hoping that he accepts a move away.
The Schwargelben’s asking price is €25 million at the moment, but Inter are keeping a close eye on the situation in the hopes that as it drags on they will become willing to accept a lower offer.
