Inter wingback Robin Gosens feels that he is starting to get back to his best after getting past the muscle injury that he sustained during preseason a few weeks ago.

Speaking to InterTV, the 28-year-old stated that his recovery has had him feeling closer and closer to his best as the start of the season approaches.

Gosens picked up a muscle problem which ruled him out of a couple of Inter’s friendlies during the preseason period, raising some concern about whether or not he would be able to be consistently available and at his best during the upcoming season.

The German has big shoes to fill as he is the player who has been chosen to replace Ivan Perisic on the left of the Nerazzurri’s team in the long term, and so the injury will have been a concern.

However, Gosens is recovered, and at the moment he feels that there is reason for optimism based on how he’s feeling.

“I keep feeling better,” he said, “especially after the most recent injury which kept me out for a few days, we’re ready for Saturday and we have a great desire to do well.”
