Former AC Milan coach Gennaro Gattuso has said that AC Milan, Juventus and Inter will be the teams fighting for the title this season in Serie A, according to a report in the Italian media.
Speaking during an interview with La Gazzetta dello Sport, the former coach of Napoli and AC Milan explained that he thinks it will be a three-horse race for the Scudetto this season but Napoli will not be part of the fight.
“The three favourites are Juve, Milan and Inter, plus Roma who are the ones who have made the most moves in the market, and this has brought great enthusiasm. Inter have sold over 41,000 season tickets, Milan are just behind, positive signs.”
He also spoke very glowingly about the level of Serie A and how he thinks that it is rising at the moment and the football in Italy is improving after a very rough period of time.
“The league is still fascinating, and lately it is also hard-fought. It’s a tournament in which tactics rule and I honestly cannot say who will win it. What I can say is that in the last 6-7 years Serie A has also evolved and the model of football on offer has improved.”
Gennaro Gattuso is now the coach of Valencia after struggling to find a long-term home in Serie A.
He did become the Fiorentina boss but then left before playing a game after falling out with the ownership.
