Inter have made their first approach towards Stefan de Vrij to discuss the extension of his contract with the Nerazzurri, according to a report in the Italian print media today.

As has been reported by Corriere dello Sport today, the Nerazzurri are keen to extend the contract of the Dutch defender as it is set to run out in June 2023.

Nothing concrete has been put in place and the deal is in the very early stages. Inter are aware though that they could miss out on the opportunity to ever get a transfer fee for the Dutchman.

He arrived on a free transfer so any sale would be a big capital gain but if no deal is agreed, he can leave for free next summer.

The other defender out of contract next summer is Milan Skriniar and that is more delicate as he could be sold before the end of his deal even if it is not this summer.
