The high asking price that Borussia Dortmund are demanding for Manuel Akanji means that a move to Inter is getting unlikely, according to a report in the Italian media today.

As has been reported by the Roman daily newspaper Corriere dello Sport, the €15-20 million price that the Bundesliga side have put on the Swiss defender means that Inter will need to either find a new way to make the deal work or just move on to other targets.

There is simply no money in the bank right now for Inter to be spending on a defender due to the tough financial situation and the need to keep the Andrea Pinamonti and Cesare Casadei transfer fees in the clubs’ coffers.

The player himself is very keen to make the move but the only way it could likely work is if he signed an extension with Borussia Dortmund and then moved on loan to Inter.
