Inter’s pursuit of Borussia Dortmund defender Manuel Akanji is complicated as the Germans continue to hold out for at least €15 million to sell the 26-year-old.

This according to today’s print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, who report that Dortmund are not open to letting the Swiss international leave on loan and would want at least €15 million to get a deal done despite the fact that he’s headed into the final year of his deal.

Inter have targeted Akanji as one of their main options to replace Andrea Ranocchia and strengthen the defensive depth for the season, and have been hoping that the 26-year-old’s contract situation would make the Schwarzgelben more receptive in negotiations.

However, Dortmund do not appear inclined towards the solution of extending Akanji’s contract by one season so that he can be sent to Inter on loan.

The Bundesliga side have made their stance clear that they would want a fee and a permanent sale if they are to let Akanji join Inter, and their asking price hasn’t dropped from €15-20 million.
