Inter midfielder Hakan Calhanoglu believes that the Nerazzurri must do everything they can to get the best out of striker Romelu Lukaku now that the Belgian is back in the team.

Speaking to Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia ahead of this evening’s Serie A home opener against Spezia, the 28-year-old stressed playing to the newly-returned striker’s strengths, whilst also making clear that he feels that the team as a whole are strong this season.

Inter will hope that they can build on last weekend’s opening day win over Lecce, which did not see the team at their fluid best but nevertheless saw them create no shortage of chances with Lukaku clinically dispatching a very early opportunity.

The Nerazzurri will be hoping to grow into the season, and getting Lukaku into his best goalscoring form on a consistent basis will be a key aspect of this, though far from the only thing that the team will be looking to do.

“We’re still very energized,” Calhanoglu said, “we start again from where we left off two months ago. It will be an incredible feeling playing here in front of our fans again.”

“Today will be a very important match for us,” he continued. “The return of Romelu Lukaku means that we have four excellent forwards, everyone is important.”

He noted that “Lukaku adds something, but we’re strong as a team. The style of play is always the same, and then certainly the qualities of someone like Lukaku we’ll have to get the best out of.”
