Former Atalanta striker Simone Tribocchi believes that Inter and AC Milan are the two teams best-placed to win the Serie A title, but that Napoli will be able to push them again this season.

Speaking to Italian news outlet MilanNews.it, the 44-year-old named the Partenopei as the team who would be able to pull a surprise and even get ahead of the Milan teams to win the Scudetto this season.

Last campaign it had been Inter, Milan, and Napoli fighting for the title for much of the season, before the Partenopei fell away in the final weeks and the race was reduced to the Nerazzurri and the Rossoneri, with the latter prevailing on the final day of the season.

Early predictions this season focused on Inter and Milan as well as a Juventus team who have strengthened in the transfer market over the summer.

However, as with last season Napoli have surprised with a very impressive start to the season, and despite having lost numerous important players during the transfer windows they’ve arguably been the Italian top flight’s outstanding team over the opening two matches.

Asked if he thinks that the Milan teams are still ahead of the rest in Serie A, Tribocchi said “Overall, yes, but also keep an eye on Napoli who had seemed further away just a few weeks ago. A little behind the Milan teams I’d put the Azzurri, Juventus, and Roma.”
