Italian journalist believes that while Romelu Lukaku’s qualities are more readily apparent than those of his striker partner at Inter Lautaro Martinez, Martinez’s profile is unique and gives the team something equally important.
Speaking to Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia, Marani contrasted the Nerazzurri’s two main strikers, and gave the view that Martinez’s contribution in attack should not be overlooked compared to that of his partner in crime.
Lukaku has already bagged a goal and an assist in his first two matches back in an Inter shirt, whilst Martinez got on the scoresheet for the first time this season against Sepzia having already assisted the team’s late winner against Lecce.
It has been noted that Lukaku has already become a focal point for the Nerazzurri in the final third, and that the Belgian’s style of play makes him capable of preoccupying defenders and bringing the team up the pitch and in behind, but Marani is just as much a fan of Martinez’s style of play.
“Lukaku catches the eye more because of his strength, but Lautaro is unique,” he argued, “perhaps the most important attacker they have indeed.”
He then said that “The real Barella is starting to return, last season he played more than anyone. Great progress already compared to Lecce.”
“And then a side note for Dzeko, who after being a starter last season has come off the bench and made a big impact,” Marani added. “He’s a great professional and deserves credit. Inter have lost nothing and added a lot. It will be a very good and balanced title race.”
