A lack of success in their high-profile chase of Inter defender Milan Skriniar was a major disappointment for Paris Saint-Germain, in the view of French media.

The Parisians’ inability to sign the Slovakian was labelled as their “failure of the summer” by French news outlet Le10Sport, via FCInterNews, given that it has left them without a player they had made no secret they had identified as the perfect player to complete their defense.

PSG are still looking for a defender to reinforce the backline alongside the likes of Marquinhos, Sergio Ramos, and Presnel Kimpembe, especially considering that Thilo Kehrer has left for West Ham United and Abdou Diallo could also be on the way out.

Skriniar had been the player who the Parisians had long seen as the ideal profile to slot into their defense, but they were never able to get a deal done for him particularly once it became clear that Inter would be sticking to their asking price as they failed to sign Bremer.

Now, PSG are left looking for a defender before the summer transfer window closes, and reflecting on how they missed out on a player they had felt they had in hand at one point.
