Lazio defender Francesco Acerbi could undergo his medicals tomorrow ahead of his expected loan move to Inter.

This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, who report that the 34-year-old is on the verge of finally joining the Nerazzurri on a free loan with a purchase option, with coach Simone Inzaghi happy to be reunited with the defender.

Inter’s talks with Lazio have been at an advanced stage for a little while now regarding a loan for Acerbi, whilst the player and his representatives have always made clear that they would welcome the move.

The Nerazzurri have also been considering moving for Chelsea’s Trevoh Chalobah or Borussia Dortmund’s Manuel Akanji, but both of these targets have proved out of reach.

Acerbi will arrive on loan, without a significant loan fee, and the deal will contain an option on the Nerazzurri’s part to sign him on a permanent basis at the end of his loan.
