Legendary former AC Milan, Real Madrid, and England coach Fabio Capello believes that Inter currently look like a team without a clear identity.
Speaking to Italian broadcaster Rai Radio, the former coach gave the view that Nerazzurri coach Simone Inzaghi will have to work to resolve this identity crisis and get them back to looking like they know what they’re trying to do on the pitch.
Inter suffered their first major setback of the season when they lost 3-1 to Lazio at the Stadio Olimpico on Friday, and thinks won’t be getting any easier with clashes with Cremonese, AC Milan, Bayern Munich, and Torino on the docket.
Inter will have the individual quality to be able to get the results that they want out of these matches, but expressing themselves at their best will be key, and this is something that they have not really been able to do this season, particularly against the Biancocelesti.
“Inter must find themselves again because they look confused,” Capello said, “they’re not the same team as in previous season. Now it will be very much dependent on Inzaghi.”
He continued that “The Nerazzurri have much more difficult matches on the way [against Bayern and Barcelona], but that’s how it is in Europe – the level is high, you get tough opponents and you can’t afford any distraction.”
