Inter CEO Beppe Marotta and sporting director Piero Ausilio identified Stuttgart’s Borna Sosa as a player that could replace Robin Gosens, according to a report in the Italian print media today.

As has been reported by La Gazzetta dello Sport, the chances of Inter signing Borna Sosa from Stuttgart were entirely dependent on Robin Gosens’ move to Bayer Leverkusen being confirmed.

Beppe Marotta and Piero Ausilio had sounded him out and made some approaches to bring him to the club but they quickly put the breaks on the deal when it became clear that Bayer Leverkusen would not be heading to the Bundesliga.

The German side only wanted to sign him on a loan deal but Inter only saw any use in a full sale so that they could increase their transfer profit for the summer which is lower than they had hoped for it to be as no major sale has happened.
