Former Inter and AC Milan coach Alberto Zaccheroni has said that Inter appear more nervous than they were last season, according to a report in the Italian media.

Speaking during an interview with Tuttosport, Alberto Zaccheroni looked ahead to the Milan derby which takes place on Saturday evening at San Siro.

He was asked about the job that Simone Inzaghi is doing with the Nerazzurri this season and he suggested that they look like a more nervous team than they did last season.

“The Nerazzurri’s ability is not in question. Inter have a complete squad, but for now I see a lack of continuity in the matches: during the same match there are imbalances.

“Milan is aware, 90% convinced of winning matches. The Nerazzurri have a different approach. You can see with the naked eye that they are more nervous than last season.”

Somewhat against the grain, Alberto Zaccheroni does not think that the derby will be a very entertaining game even though he feels they are the two teams best-equipped to win the Scudetto this season.

“Milan and Inter are the two teams most accredited to win the title. But for this match I do not expect great things, neither from one side nor from the other.

“We are at the beginning of the season, neither of the two contenders is at the top, as is normal. I think Milan will play their game, with great intensity and density in the middle.

“The Diavolo will arrive at the match with a better head. While on the other side the Nerazzurri will try to verticalize on their extraordinary attackers. Neither team will wait for the other, which is why I believe in a match with many goals.”

He almost mentioned the importance of Inter’s physicality: “An important asset of Inter is their physicality. A negative aspect instead is that they are still paying for last season’s failure.”
