An investigation has been opened into antisemitic chants aimed at AC Milan coming from Inter ultras group the Curva Nord prior to the Milan derby match on Saturday.

This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, who report that the Prosecutors Office are looking at the chants which were recorded prior to the kickoff from the Nerazzurri ultras group.

Prior to the start of Saturday’s match, chants could be heard coming from the Nord who sang that “The champions of Italy are Jews,” aimed in the direction of the Rossoneri players and fans following their title win last season.

The chants clearly appeared to be offensive antisemitic references, and so the Prosecutors Office are looking into what action to take if any against the Nord or any other parties held to be responsible.

It will remain to be seen what action is taken based on the investigation of the Prosecutors Office.
