Former Inter and AC Milan defender Saul Malatrasi expects that both of his former sides will manage to get out of their Champions League groups this season.

Speaking to Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport in an interview published in today’s print edition, the former defender gave his confidence that both the Nerazzurri and the Rossoneri can overcome their difficult groups in Europe’s top competition.

Inter kick off their Champions League campaign tomorrow against very tough opposition in the form of German champions Bayern Munich, whilst Milan will hardly be underestimating the difficulty of their task in their opener against Red Bull Salzburg this evening.

Both teams will have six matches over the next few weeks in which to try and navigate their way to the knockout stages of Europe’s top competition, something which Inter managed last season whilst Milan missed out, and it will not be easy.

For Malatrasi, however, they will have enough, with the former defender stating that “Of course, they can do it. They’ll both finish in the top two spots in their groups.”
