Torino President Urbano Cairo feels that while it is a positive for his team to head into Saturday’s Serie A clash with Inter ahead of the Nerazzurri in the table, it’s still early in the season and they can’t get ahead of themselves.
Speaking to Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport in an interview published in today’s print edition, Cairo gave his thoughts ahead of the clash at the San Siro over the weekend, which could be the Granata’s toughest challenge yet in what’s been a strong start to the season.
Torino have been one of the in-form teams at the start of this Serie A season, with a hard-fought draw with Lazio and a loss to league leaders Atalanta the only points they’ve dropped so far.
On ten points from fifteen, this means that the Piedmontese team go into their match with Inter a point ahead of the Nerazzurri, who have lost twice already against Lazio and AC Milan.
Of whether he believes this will add some importance to the match, Cairo responded “There’s no doubt about it, it’s a good feeling for us.”
“However, I prefer not to get excited because we’re still just at the beginning of the season,” he continued. “We hope to go to San Siro and play a great match to prove that the results we’ve obtained so far aren’t a fluke and prove the qualities we’ve already shown.”
