Legendary former Inter, Roma, Real Madrid, and Sampdoria, believes that it would be hard to criticize Inter too harshly for their loss to Bayern Munich in the Champions League yesterday evening considering the quality of their opposition.

Speaking in a post on his Instagram account, Cassano gave the view that the quality of the German champions’ performance has to be taken into account before judging the Nerazzurri, and that the Bavarians were simply on another level.

Bayern are widely considered to be one of the strongest teams in all of Europe, and they were expected to be an extremely tough test for Inter, and so they proved to be.

The Nerazzurri had some positive moments, but over the course of the ninety minutes could not really get close to a Bayern team who were playing at an extremely high level technically and physically, and Cassano feels that there is little shame in losing to such a team.

“I’ve heard many criticisms, many  things said against the coach and the players,” Cassano said. “Bayern are much stronger, they’re virtually playing another sport.”

He then said that “Inter have problems, they didn’t play well, it’s true, but Bayern are one of the three strongest teams in the world. I can’t put too many criticisms on Inter or on the coach, they did what they could be the opponent was simply too strong.”
