Barcelona defender Jordi Alba does not feel that the transfer rumours linking him with Inter towards the end of the summer transfer window took his focus away from his current club at all.

Speaking to the press, as reported by FCInterNews, the 33-year-old made clear that the links to the Nerazzurri had absolutely no bearing on his mentality, and that as far as he is concerned the Blaugranas have always been the only priority.

Alba had been among the players linked to Inter as a possible replacement for Robin Gosens in the event that the German were to depart with Bayer Leverkusen having been linked with a late move for his signature towards the end of last month.

The links were tenuous, but a shock move could hardly have been ruled out if there were indeed talks regarding Alba between Inter and Barcelona, considering that the former Valencia defender would be a logical positional fit for the Nerazzurri’s left side.

“I can tell you that my focus has always been to stay at Barcelona,” Alba said, “I see myself as having the necessary qualities to be here for the years that remain on my contract, then the club will consider its interests.”

“I’ve shown a lot of commitment to the club, my teammates, and coaches, but in the end the decision is up to the club,” he continued, “they are who they are and there are a lot of interests in play, but I won’t ever go into that question.”

“My commitment is one hundred percent and that’s it,” Alba stressed. “I’d like to tell you more but I have no intention of going into the subject.”
