Sassuolo striker Andrea Pinamonti feels that the decision to join Empoli on loan last season from Inter was the right decision as it meant that he received regular playing time.

Speaking to the official Serie A YouTube channel, as reported by FCInterNews, the 23-year-old explained that leaving the Nerazzurri to find a starting spot in another team made sense and was the best option for him at that time.

Pinamonti’s talent has never been up for debate, but his suitability for Inter given their ambitions and what is expected from forwards at the club was never as obvious.

The young striker had spent the season before last in the Nerazzurri’s first time, but the amount of playing time that he received under Antonio Conte was very limited, so he left on loan last season.

The choice to join Empoli turned out to be one that allowed Pinamonti to take a big step forward, and he reflected on this.

“The season in Empoli was fundamental for me because I was coming off the back of a season where I barely played,” he said. “I needed to feel important in a group, the choice of Empoli was the best one of my career because it allowed me to show what I can do and gave me a boost.”
