Inter still appear to be playing within themselves, showing too much caution and a lack of self-belief after recent defeats against AC Milan and Bayern Munich.

This according to today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, who argue that the Nerazzurri don’t look to be full of confidence on the pitch based on their performance against Torino yesterday evening, and that there seems to be a reluctance to take risks.

Inter were far from their fluid best against the Granata even in spite of taking the three points, and the sense was that the visiting team were successful in their attempts to stifle the Nerazzurri and disrupt their rhythm so that they couldn’t play the game at their own tempo.

Inter’s play lacked direction, a contrast from how they play when at their best under Simone Inzaghi, where they can virtually open defenses up by second nature, and for the Corriere this appears to be a lingering mental effect of recent defeats.
