Italian journalist Matteo Marani feels that Inter put in the right response to their recent difficulties in form by beating Torino over the weekend even if it was not the most aesthetically pleasing performance.

Speaking to Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia, Marani emphasized that even if the Nerazzurri were not at their fluid best, showing that they were capable of getting back to winning ways by taking three points was what ultimately mattered.

Inter’s rough start to the campaign meant that anything other than victory against Torino would leave a very bitter taste in the mouth, and the difficulty that they found themselves in at points during the match risked adding significantly to the ill feelings from the preceding games.

However, the Nerazzurri scored late on with their one moment of real quality in the match, a reward for increasingly frantic pressing for the winner, and Marani feels that the result is nothing to be scoffed at.

“The Granata are an excellent team,” he noted, “really well-coached by Juric. But Inter then solved it late on with Brozovic and Barella, who had been heavily criticized.”

He called the win “Important points and an important response., they didn’t play too well, it wasn’t a sparkling performance and they still need Lukaku back, but sometimes you have to go through these difficulties.”
