Inter are looking for a win within their first two matches in the Champions League group stage for the first time in four seasons when they travel to Plzen to face Viktoria this evening.
This is noted in today’s print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, who highlight the Nerazzurri’s failure to reach three points by their second match of any of the past three group stage campaigns in Europe’s top competitions.
In the 2019-20 season, Inter snatched a late draw against Slavia Prague at the San Siro in their group stage opener before losing 2-1 away to Barcelona in their second match.
The next season, Inter began their group stage campaign with two draws, 2-2 against Borussia Monchengladbach and 0-0 against Shakhtar Donestk, followed with two defeats to Real Madrid as they finished bottom of their group.
Last season, Inter met Real and Shakhtar once again in their first two group stage matches, losing to eventual winners Real very late on at the San Siro on opening day before scrapping for yet another goalless draw with Shakhtar in their second match.
This season, the Nerazzurri have yet again gotten their Champions League campaign off to a less-than-stellar start, falling to a 2-0 defeat against Bayern Munich at home in their opener, but they have the opportunity to set the tone by taking three points against Viktoria this evening.
