Legendary former Inter midfielder Esteban Cambiaso believes that the Nerazzurri did everything they had to in their 2-0 Champions League group stage win over Viktoria Plzen yesterday evening.

Speaking to Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia after the match, the treble-winner also gave the view that striker Edin Dzeko and wingback Denzel Dumfries, Inter’s two goalscorers on the night, were the best players on the pitch.

Inter didn’t put in their most frenetic or sparkling performance against Plzen, nor that they really run up the score and blow the Czech team away, but on the whole it would be hard to disagree with the 2-0 scoreline.

The Nerazzurri played the game at their own tempo in spite of the fact that they were up against organized and physical opposition, and they got the three points they needed to gain a foothold in a difficult group.

Cambiasso gave his assessment of the match, stating that “It was a convincing performance. From the first minute it was clear that Inter wanted to take control of the game.”

“Viktoria Plzen gave control to the Nerazzurri,” he added, “the visitors had patience and were concrete. Edin Dzeko and Denzel Dumfries are were Inter’s best players tonight.”
