The Serie A is back!!! It seems like it has taken forever to say these words, but alas, we get to experience football’s greatest moments all over again.

There are so many big talking points with Inter Milan this season. A reasonable amount of changes have been made to the squad over the course of the transfer window, this causes significant changes in the dynamics of the team.

With Juventus losing out on the title for the second year in a row, the Scudetto is more open than ever, and the Nerazzurri should be plotting to get back on top after losing out to their city rivals AC Milan.

Matchdays would carry significant weight on the players, and superior performances are to be expected, which makes the matchbook sign up offer extra special.

Inzaghi is in a very difficult position, especially regarding player selection. Significant changes in the squad make it a bit stressful to pick a consistently winning eleven while confining quality players to the bench.

Since players like Alexis Sanchez and Ivan Perisic have left the club, a gap has opened in the team for a creative player, and by the looks of things, it will be a dogfight for these open positions.

Who Gets To Be In The Starting Line-Up?

Goalkeeper

The signing of Andre Onana from Ajax in the winter could mean that Handanovic’s position is hanging by a thread. This doesn’t come as a surprise, and Handanovic knows that his time as number one is ending.

Knowing the kind of player he is, it’s easy to say the skipper wants what is best for the team, and Onana is perhaps the better option for the starting goalkeeper.

Defense

It’s no news that Inter has one of the best 3-man defenses in Europe. With Skriniar, Bastoni and De Vrij, you’re pretty much guaranteed a solid backline at every game. It’s quite difficult to see changes made to this backline if all the players are in good shape and form.

However, Inzaghi has shown that he’s willing to give opportunities to young players or any player ready to step up and take responsibility. But it would be a shock if he didn’t use this trio in important and crucial games.

A bigger issue would be Inter’s full backs. With Dumfries linked to other clubs in the summer but ended up staying, it is easy to assume that the club has favored him as the starting right back over 32 year old Matteo Darmian just like the previous season.

Getting a left back should be a big priority for Inter, however after the close of the transfer window, the Nerazurri and their faithfuls will have to wait a bit longer.

This since Robin Gosens and Federico Dimarco have failed to reach the levels Ivan Perisic did last season.

Midfield

The most dynamic midfield in Italy would likely remain similar to what it was before, personnel-wise.

But with Lukaku coming back to the side, Lautaro Martinez would possibly find himself switching positions from forward  to Attacking Midfield.

It’s not an unfamiliar position to Martinez since he has always been the major playmaker in the squad. If Inzaghi uses a 3-5-2 formation with both Lukaku and Dzeko upfront, Martinez would slot in perfectly with Calhanoglu and Nicolo Barella.

Brozovic remains a strong replacement for Calhanoglu and could slot in perfectly to an already familiar system.

Inter’s style of play changes quite a lot during games, this creates no problem because of the exceptional quality of the players in the squad. Inzaghi would certainly benefit from a constant change throughout the season.

Forwards

This is the biggest question on every football lover’s mind. How does Inzaghi plan on using Dzeko and Lukaku (two of the greatest number 9’s in club football)?

The perfect scenario would be seeing them both on the field.

However, that might present some problems as regards pressing and build up play. The two men are giant center forwards whose style of play is really rigid and central.

It definitely poses a problem if the two of them are on the field at the same time. One constant in the front line of Inter would be Lautaro Martinez.

There’s no doubt that Inter’s talisman has to play almost every time. His diversity puts him as the first name every time on Inter’s team sheet.

Inzaghi has a lot of planning and thinking to do to come up with the perfect system and identify his starting lineup before the season starts.

From the initial games in the season, it appears Lukaku has gotten the nod over Dzeko, but Lukaku’s injuries might see the manager change his mind.

Wrap Up

On the evidence of the games that we’ve already seen this season, who do you think should be part of Inter’s starting eleven if they’re to return to the top of the Serie A?
