Former Inter defender Andrea Ranocchia could be set to retire from football but he should be remembered for his success with Inter over the years, according to a report in the Italian print media today.

As has been reported by La Gazzetta dello Sport today, the termination of his Monza contract due to a serious injury could spell the end of Andrea Ranocchia’s time as a football player.

He left Inter at the end of last season and was Silvio Berlusconi’s first Serie A signing as Monza got promoted to the top flight for the first time in their history.

He suffered a serious injury early in the season though and has now agreed with the club to have his contract terminated. At 34 years old, he may decide to call time but he is a key figure in the recent history of Inter.

He is the link between the post-treble-winning team in 2010 and then the next league title under Antonio Conte.
