The public debate regarding Inter and AC Milan’s plans to build a new stadium to replace the San Siro in Milan will officially kick off today.

This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, who report that the official debate is set to take place until November 18, and will determine whether the clubs are able to go ahead with their plans.

One of the key themes that could come out in the debates is the new proposal to build the stadium in an oval shape rather than as a rectangle as had been the initial design of architectural design firm Populous.

Meanwhile, the controversy over whether or not to demolish the existing San Siro to make way for the new structure rages on, as the clubs see it as necessary to have space for the new stadium whilst respecting sustainability regulations but there is significant public opposition.
