Legendary former Inter, Napoli, and Lazio forward Goran Pandev feels that a victory against Barcelona this evening is hardly beyond the Nerazzurri.

Speaking to Italian broadcaster Rai Radio, the Macedonian backed this Inter team to get a result against the Blaugranas to turn their season around, and also looked back against his own Champions League experience against this opposition.

Barcelona will be one of, if not the toughest opponents that the Nerazzurri have faced thus far in the season.

This will be an especially daunting match given that Inter’s own form going into this evening’s match has been anything but positive, with two losses in a row in their past two matches.

However, each match is different from the last, and Pandev believes that the quality is there with this Inter team to do it against Barcelona.

“Inter are in a bit of a tough period,” he noted, “as seen in their last few games.”

“At the moment there are two decisive players missing in Lukaku and Brozovic,” he continued.

“But they’re strong in attack with Lautaro, Dzeko, and Correa, and tonight they can make the difference.”

Pandev predicted that “Inter can do it, if they win tonight they turn everything around and start again in the perfect way.”

“The other teams have had their own struggles and the gap in the table is still small,” he noted.

Of the Serie A title race, the Macedonian said that “I think Inter are still the strongest team, certainly four defeats in the first eight is too many but they’re not out of the title race just yet.”

Comparing this evening’s challenge to his own experience against Barcelona, Pandev said that “Surely tonight’s match is different from Inter against Barcelona in 2010, that was a two-legged semi-final, here it’s still in the group stage and if you slip up there’s another match to recover.”

“Twelve years ago we played a great match at the San Siro, our best match in the Champions League,” he continued.

“There were many top players in that team and then a coach who made the difference.”
