Inter head coach Simone Inzaghi had to embrace his inner Jose Mourinho in order to get a result against Barcelona yesterday evening, and he did just that.
This is the view across Italian media, with L’Interista highlighting the praise that the coach received for how he set his team up in the player ratings for the match.
Inter came up against one of the most formidable possession teams in Europe in the form of Barcelona, and they always looked likely to have to do quite a bit of defending.
Inzaghi did not appear too concerned with having his team impose themselves on the match in possession.
Rather, the coach emphasized keeping a compact defensive shape at all costs and staying switched on for ninety minutes.
The resemblance to former Nerazzurri coach Jose Mourinho’s approach to matches against the same opposition could be seen, and on this occasion it worked for Inzaghi.
L’Interista, Tuttosport, and the Corriere dello Sport all gave the coach a 7/10 score, whilst TuttuMercatoWeb went to 7.5/10, and the Gazzetta dello Sport as high as 8/10.
