Former Inter goalkeeper Ivano Bordon has said that the win against Barcelona was very important for the atmosphere at Inter going forward, according to a report in the Italian media.

Speaking during an interview with FCInter1908, Ivano Bordon talked about the most recent Nerazzurri match in which they beat Barcelona 1-0 in the Champions League group stage.

He stressed that it will be important for the atmosphere at the club to get a win like that given the poor form that has come before it.

“I hope it is the turning point match. It was very important for the atmosphere and the morale of the team.

“I think the result is very important, but even more so the performance that gives conviction.”

He touched upon the different tactical attitude that was shown, saying that Barcelona were allowed to have a lot of the ball.

“Barcelona had possession of the ball for a large part and that’s also why Inter played deeper.

“Everyone did their duty in their role, I don’t think he can tactically play every game because in some he will have to take charge of the game.”

Ivano Bordon had a lot of praise for Inter defender Federico Dimarco who has been the man of the moment for Inter lately it seems.

“I think that Dimarco for his athletic and technical potential should play there as a wide midfielder.

“It gives him the chance to express himself to the full. Defensively he is not really a top player, Inzaghi has understood this and rightly exploits him where he is sure he can make the most of it.”

Another topic discussed was the alternation between Andre Onana and Samir Handanovic which he feels needs to keep happening.

“Against Barcelona it’s not that Onana was very busy. I don’t feel I can make such a definitive judgement on him yet.

“It’s not easy to play such an important game, against a Barcelona always so on the edge of the area, but we’ll have to see him later.

“The only way to judge him is to see him continuously, but I don’t know if Inzaghi will agree to leave Handanovic permanently on the bench.

“Onana in Holland had a very good experience, here you play and experience football in a different way also psychologically and the boy needs confidence.

“Inzaghi will have to clarify the situation with Handanovic, who is not going through a good moment, he feels criticised, perhaps too much, but he will have to understand that he is acting for the good of Inter.”
