Former Inter goalkeeper Sebastian Frey has said that Samir Handanovic deserves to be praised but his quality is starting to wane, according to a report in the Italian broadcast media.
Speaking during an interview with CMIT’s TVPLAY, via FCInternews, Sebastian Frey showed respect for Samir Handanovic whilst still admitting that he is not the player he used to be.
His future with Inter has been a hot topic ever since it became clear that Andre Onana would be joining the club on a free transfer from Ajax.
So far since his arrival, the Cameroonian goalkeeper has only played in the three Champions League group games whilst Samir Handanovic has been starting all of the Serie A matches.
Many feel that this is the time when Andre Onana should become the number one goalkeeper and Sebastian Frey seems to agree, suggesting that Samir Handanovic is not diving as much anymore.
“Handanovic should receive praise for what he has done.
“However, when you see a goalkeeper who is less and less lucid, who dives less and less, you have to start considering turning over a new leaf.
“And perhaps Samir struggles to do so, this creates the misunderstanding.”
