Inter head into this evening’s Serie A clash with Sassuolo with an attack that is barely holding together, but they are hoping for a goal from a striker for the first time in more than a month.

This is highlighted in today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, who note that no striker has scored for the team in the league since Edin Dzeko found the back of the net in the Milan derby.

Romelu Lukaku continues to be on the sidelines recovering from a thigh injury, whilst Joaquin Correa will also miss this evening’s match.

This means that Inter coach Simone Inzaghi can count on the pair of Dzeko and Lautaro Martinez, with Valentin Carboni and Henrikh Mkhitaryan as attacking midfield options.

The situation is far from perfect, but the coach will be aiming to see at least one of his strikers finally score in the league.

Dzeko scored the Nerazzurri’s second goal in a 3-2 loss to AC Milan from the bench, but ever since then the team’s forwards have been dry in front of goal.

Both the Bosnian and Martinez will be keen to reverse this trend this evening against the Neroverdi, however.
