Inter striker Romelu Lukaku has got the match against Barcelona in his sights for a possible substitute appearance, according to a report in the Italian broadcast media.

As has been reported by Sport Mediaset, via FCInter1908, the Belgian striker is working to recover from his thigh injury and the earliest possible return is off of the bench against Barcelona.

He has increased the intensity of his work on the training pitch with that match in mind.

More conservative estimates suggest that the Salernitana game next weekend is a much more likely match for him to make his return in.

He has been training on the grass recently which is a good sign but he has not been involved with the full group yet.

The match at Camp Nou will be crucial to Inter’s chances of getting into the Round of 16 in the Champions League for the second consecutive season which is a big financial help.
