Barcelona President Steven Zhang feels that his team were very hard done by in their Champions League loss to Inter over the week.

Speaking in a press conference, as reported by FCInterNews, Laporta was harshly critical of the decisions that went against the Blaugranas in the 1-0 Nerazzurri win.

Barcelona were denied a handball penalty late in their match at the San Siro, whilst they had also had a goal disallowed for an attacking handball earlier in the second half.

These two decisions were the main flashpoints for the Barcelona players and staff during the match, who made little effort to hide their frustration.

Even after the match, Blaugranas coach Xavi spoke scathingly of the decisions, and this has been echoed by Laporta.

The Barcelona President stated that “The refereeing that went against us in Milan was shameful, it was a major scandal.”

“We even brought this fact up with UEFA,” he went on.

Laporta then expressed confidence that even after having dropped six points out of nine in their first three matches in the group stage, Barcelona can make it to the knockout rounds of the competition.

“I’m realistic, I’m not thinking of dropping out of the competition,” he said.

“With the team that we have, we all believe that we can beat Inter, Bayern, and Viktoria Plzen,” he continued.

Laporta was clear that “We have to do so to ensure that we qualify. We have to encourage Xavi and the players to do so.”
