Former AC Milan, Real Madrid, and England coach Fabio Capello feels that Inter striker Lautaro Martinez contributes a lot to the team with his workrate and movement.

Speaking to Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia, Capello praised the 25-year-old for how he runs hard for his teammates even though he is currently not scoring goals.

Martinez’s present goal drought is undeniably a worry given that the Argentine plays as a centre-forward.

On paper, Martinez should be one of the Nerazzurri’s main sources of goals on a consistent basis, and at his best that is exactly what he has been.

However, even if he is unable to find the back of the net, the 25-year-old still works to find other ways to help the team.

Martinez could hardly be accused of lacking physical intensity and application, and in this way he has managed to affect matches by pressing opponents, winning fouls, and making himself an option for teammates with the ball.

Capello is a big fan of this aspect of Martinez’s game even if he cannot always be relied upon for goals.

“I like Lautaro a lot, he moves a lot and runs for his teammates,” he said.

“He plays for the other striker, which yesterday was Dzeko.”

Capello added of Martinez that “He is also getting opportunities which he just hasn’t been taking advantage of.”
