Legendary former Inter, Roma, Real Madrid, and Sampdoria forward Antonio Cassano feels that Inter must start to take more of a proactive approach if they want to keep winning matches.

Speaking on his Instagram account, via FCInterNews, Cassano gave the view that the defensive style of play that the Nerazzurri have employed in recent victories will not be sustainable.

At this point in the season, the most important thing for Inter has been to get results.

A bad start to the campaign has meant that any way of finding three points has been the right option for the Nerazzurri who have to get back on track.

However, the victories over Barcelona and Sassuolo in Inter’s last two matches have not come from dominant performances.

Instead, the Nerazzurri have had to dig in their heels and defend, picking their moments in which to attack.

In Cassano’s view, this is not an approach that Inter can depend on to keep delivering results.

“I still think that to win you have to play well,” he said.

“They played a game of suffering, I don’t know if they deservedly won, Sassuolo played much better than Inter but Inter have players who can can solve matches like Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Edin Dzeko, one of the top strikers around.”

“This can’t be how Inter play,” he continued, “if they keep playing like this throughout the season I don’t know how far they can go.”

“Inter must return to playing as they always have, with ideas, personality, and quality,” Cassano argued.
