Milan Mayor Beppe Sala is hoping that the public debate around Inter and AC Milan’s new stadium plans can bring a conclusive end to the matter once and for all.
Speaking to the press, as reported by FCInterNews, Sala expressed the hope that everyone would get a say in the debate, and also stated that the City Council was prepared to give its approval to plans.
Inter and Milan are now waiting to see how the public debate around their new stadium plans goes.
The clubs have already waited some time to see whether they can finally get approval to start construction, and the public debate represents one of the final bureaucratic hurdles.
Sala made clear that it is is hope that everyone is hard during the process, and that once this occurs, a clear outcome is reached.
This is surely a sentiment that will also be shared by the clubs.
“I’m counting heavily on the public debate because it can restore order to the discussion,” the Mayor said, “it can allow everyone to intervene, and must finally put an end to the discussion.”
“We must put an end to this discussion with the fact that the City Council will give its consent to the project,” he continued.
Sala also expressed his opposition to the possibility of a referendum on the matter, stating that “The use of a referendum would be an extreme case, I hope that the public debate will be an alternative to a referendum.”
