Inter deserved to beat Barcelona 4-3 on Wednesday evening but they are still just one step away from being in the Round of 16 of the Champions League again, according to a report in the Italian print media today.

As has been argued in a report from La Gazzetta dello Sport today, the Nerazzurri should have fully secured their safe passage into the latter stages of the Champions League on Wednesday night.

They had a chance to make it 4-3 late on but Kristjan Asllani opted to shoot rather than square it to Henrikh Mkhitaryan who was in space for a tap-in.

The shot was saved by Marc- Andre Ter Stegen and Inter had to settle for a 3-3 draw despite being the better team in the second half.

Regardless, Inter know now that they just need to get a victory against Viktoria Plzen at San Siro on October 26 and then they will be through.
