Inter CEO Beppe Marotta has talked about the amount of money that the Zhang has family has invested in Inter during their ownership of the club, according to a report in the Italian media today.

Speaking during a presentation of the Brave New Sport event, via FCInternews, Beppe Marotta shared some key information and details about Suning’s ownership of the club and the amount of money that they have invested into it.

He was asked about the difference between working in a club run by an Italian family, hinting at his time with Juventus, and working with the Zhang family at Inter.

He started off by pointing out that there is more assuredness at Juventus due to the amount of ownership changes there has been at Inter by comparison.

“‘If the question refers to the Juventus-Inter transition, Juve has an ownership that has lasted a hundred years and creates added values that are difficult to have elsewhere, such as belonging and planning.

“At Inter, three ownerships have changed in eight years, so there has been instability which has led to greater fatigue.”

He then explained that foreign investment into Italian football is a good thing as it has brought fresh stability and cash to a club like Inter with all that the Zhang family has invested.

“But it is good that foreign ownership has arrived, because it has given sustainability to clubs like Inter and Milan after the managements of Moratti and Berlusconi.

“The Zhang family has put a lot of effort into pouring €800 million into Inter, which is no small thing.

“Then you have to know how to create a winning team, even behind the scenes with the management.”

He finished off by focusing on the technical innovations that come with foreign investment into the club and the game in Italy as a whole.

“Here all innovative processes must be considered, at Inter for example we have Performance Lab that helps to improve the performance of a footballer, who has now become more of an athlete.

“Technology helps to improve performance: in athletics records are now broken all the time because you train much better than in the past.

“Today the vision of the athlete is different, thanks also to the new scientific vision that any athlete now enjoys, also on a psychological level.

“When I started at 15 we had the cobbler next to the changing room to fix the cleats, today we have figures like nutritionists and psychologists.

“However, the game of football remains fundamental, if we consider a football club as an entertainment company the spectacle must still be guaranteed. The end result depends on it.”
