Former Inter defender Daniele Adani feels that the Nerazzurri have taken a lot of momentum by beating and then drawing against Barcelona in the Champions League.
Speaking to Italian broadcaster Rai Radio, Adani also gave the view that the only thing that striker Romelu Lukaku needs to get back to his best is more consistent fitness.
Inter looked like a team with focus and technical assuredness in their 2-0 win over Salernitana in Serie A.
This is not necessarily how the Nerazzurri had looked for much of the start of the campaign, as even in matches that they won, the team look like they could not fully feel comfortable in their football.
The matches against Barcelona seem to have stirred something up in the team that has had effects beyond the Champions League.
Adani feels that something has changed mentally that the Nerazzurri are carrying from match to match now.
“The players today confirmed that there’s been a change,” he said.
“Before, everyone was looking for a culprit to blame, now everyone gives something more for the team.”
“Everyone is assuming more responsibility now, the matches against Barcelona have given the team momentum and confidence.”
And of Lukaku’s much-anticipated return and what he expects, Adani said that “He just needs to feel right physically – he’s a big player, if he isn’t in top physical condition then he’ll struggle for performances.”
“Now, though, the players who are filling in for him are doing well.”
