Italian women’s national team coach Milena Bertolini feels that many people were too hasty in judging Inter coach Simone Inzaghi.

Speaking to Italian broadcaster Rai Radio, Bertolini suggested that there was excessive criticism of the 46-year-old based on just a few matches, and that he and the team have now proved themselves once again.

Inzaghi came under perhaps strong criticism than at any other time in his Inter career during the first few weeks of the current season.

The Nerazzurri’s form was nowhere near what it needs to be considering the team’s ambitions, and the performances didn’t seem to deserve much better.

There were many doubts cast on whether Inzaghi would be the right person to lead the team out of this crisis in form.

However, four massive points against Barcelona in the Champions League and two wins on the bounce in Serie A suggest otherwise.

For here part, Bertolini feels that the criticisms of Inzaghi always came far too soon.

“The team has rediscovered itself collectively,” she said, “Inzaghi prepares well and he found a way to manage this delicate moment.”

“He’s always done well wherever he’s gone,” she said of the Nerazzurri coach, “the secret has been to rediscover each other as a team.”

“The matches against Barcelona generated positive energy,” she said, “Inter are a strong team.”

Asked if there was too much of a rush to judge Inzaghi, Bertolini replied that “Absolute, balance is necessary.”

“I’d also like to give some praise to Calhanoglu, he’s doing well in the role of regista,” she continued.

“He’s given them a different kind of creative spark that they’d been missing,” Bertolini said of the Turk.
