Inter have postponed the contract extension talks with defender Milan Skriniar and his representatives until after the Champions League clash with Viktoria Plzen next week.

This according to today’s print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, who report that the club are waiting to see whether qualification for the Champions League knockout rounds is secured.

Getting talks started with Skriniar and his representatives is a priority for Inter given that the 27-year-old’s current deal expires at the end of June 2023.

However, the decision has been made to wait until after Wednesday’s Champions League clash with Plzen before starting the talks.

Should the Nerazzurri win against the Czech side, they will secure a spot in the Champions League knockouts.

If this is the case, then €20 million in additional revenues will be guaranteed for participation in the knockouts, which could become a factor in the amount that the club can offer Skriniar in wages.
