Inter striker Romelu Lukaku is desperate to finally get back on the pitch, but the worry of reinjury is the main factor delaying his return.

This according to today’s print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, who report that while the Belgian is not currently injured, he cannot return until his fitness is such that he is not at risk of reinjuring himself.

Lukaku has now missed a total of eleven matches for the Nerazzurri, and the 29-year-old wants to get back in action as soon as he possibly can.

Whilst the thigh injury that’s been keeping the striker out is no longer an issue, given his physique and weight, the feeling is that he can only safely play without risking aggravating the injury when he reaches a certain level of physical fitness.

Accordingly, the medical tests that Lukaku is undergoing are examining his condition in view of making sure he can fully support himself on the pitch.

It remains unknown when exactly this point will be reached, but it is the aspect that is keeping Lukaku off the pitch at this point.
