Urban planner Giuseppe Bonomi expects that Inter and AC Milan are as committed as ever to building their new stadium in the San Siro.

Speaking at the public debate regarding the new stadium plans, as reported by FCInterNews, the urban planner hired by the two clubs provided an update on their plans.

Inter and Milan have always made building a new stadium in place of the existing San Siro their main priority.

However, doing so is not necessarily a simple proposition given the bureaucratic hurdles that have emerged.

Should the clubs not be able to build in the San Siro area, they would not hesitate to look to another area to build the structure.

The public debate around the plans looks to be one of the major remaining hurdles, however.

If the debate reaches a positive conclusion for the club’s plans, then they should be able to start construction in the area, and Bonomi made clear that this is still what they intend to do.

“We want to go forward in the San Siro area, and built at a capacity of 65,000 seats,” he explained.

He continued that “We want to listen to the opinion of the citizens and, at the same time, illustrate our proposal ”

“Taking a tour of the area, the need for redevelopment and regeneration is clear.”

Of the clubs’ plans, he elaborated that “We’re in a preliminary planning phase, but we’re moving forward with our ideas.”

“It’s clear that, at a later point, different solutions could emerge, but for now we’re moving ahead as planned.”
