Possible raising of ticket prices and environmental impact are two of the main concerns fans have raised in the first part of the public debate around Inter and AC Milan’s new stadium plans.
This according to the public debate’s coordinator Andre Pillon, who spoke to Milan-based newspaper Corriere della Sera about the debate in an interview published in today’s print edition.
The official public debate around Inter and Milan’s new stadium plans is now well underway.
This represents an important step for the clubs’ plans, as the debate is one of the main bureaucratic hurdles needed to be overcome before construction on a new stadium can begin.
If the clubs can reach a positive conclusion to the debate, they will be much closer to realizing their plans.
However, to do so the clubs and their representatives will have to address the concerns that are raised by the public over the course of the debate.
Pillon summarized some of the most prominent concerns, stating that “During the first meeting, most of the questions related to the strong concern that the reduction in capacity to around 60,000 could lead to increased ticket prices, thus excluding those with the least money.”
“The other critical issues that are emerging concern the environmental impact and that to the quality of life of the residents.”
Pillon noted that “The issue of the possible renovation of the San Siro continues to remain, but to a much lesser degree.”
“Given that the subject of the possibility of redeveloping the San Siro was debated well before our meetings, I wanted to bring the theme within the debate.”
“This is so that I could include it in my final report, and give the clubs a way to either say, ‘yes, we have been convinced,’ or ‘no, we are still sticking with our original plans,'” Pillon noted.
