Inter striker Lautaro Martinez feels that there’s little question of the effort he’s putting in for his club even with the World Cup looming.

Speaking to Argentine broadcaster TyC Sports, the 25-year-old made clear that he’s still giving his all in a Nerazzurri shirt despite the fact that the World Cup begins next month.

Many players headed for the World Cup could be tempted to adjust their games to reserve their energy and avoid energy in view of the tournament.

Whilst players’ clubs are important to them, participating in international football’s top event is a dream of a lifetime for many players.

Accordingly, the prospect of missing all or part of the tournament, or of not being at their best, will be a worry for some players.

Martinez denied in no uncertain terms that this is the case for him, however.

The Argentine wants to give everything he can for Inter, and then also for his national team next month, finding the right balance.

“From my point of view, you have to play the way you always play because if you aren’t putting yourself into it fully, you’re running the risk of compromising yourself mentally,” he said.

“In my own case, I always try to play the same game as usual, to just keep doing the work on the pitch.”

“And then obviously I can only knock on wood,” the striker noted, hoping to avoid any unfortunate injuries.
