Australian stadium management company ASM Global have submitted a proposal to keep the San Siro standing and redevelop it as an alternative to Inter and AC Milan building a new stadium.
This according to Italian broadcaster SportMediaset, who report that the Australian company have submitted their proposal as part of the ongoing public debate on the clubs’ new stadium plans.
Inter and Milan are still determined to build an altogether new stadium in Milan in place of the San Siro.
The two clubs have been firm in their stance that it would not be feasible to refurbish the San Siro in such a way that would make the stadium compatible with their competitive ambitions.
However, some significant opposition remains to the proposal to demolish the San Siro, with some in the city feeling that the new stadium must be kept standing and refurbished.
ASM Global have submitted a proposal in support of this perspective, as the stadium management company feel that they can refurbish the existing stadium adequately.
