Inter Legend Nicola Berti: “Nerazzurri Have Got Over Mental Block After Barcelona, Nicolo Barella Will Score Double Figures

Former Inter midfielder Nicola Berti believes that the recent victory over Barcelona in the Champions League has been a turning point for the club this season.

In an interview published in today’s newspaper edition of La Gazzetta dello Sport, Berti reflected on the 1-0 win over the Catalan club that ended a run of five defeats in eight previous matches, ahead of a Serie A match against Fiorentina today.

Indeed, the Nerazzurri have since won their two most recent Serie A games, against Sassuolo and Salernitana respectively, whilst earning a 3-3 draw in the away match against Barcelona.

“Inter are fine and Barcelona was the turning point, it has unlocked the mental block that they were in inside the dressing room,” Berti claimed.

“I think the crisis is over, but they must be careful because three tests await.

“If they pass those I would say there won’t be any more, but it’s Fiorentina, Plzen at the Meazza to give the fans the Champions League knockout stages, and again at home against Sampdoria.

“Fiorentina seemed to have started well, then they got a bit lost, I don’t know why.

“Maybe it’s a matter of overdoing preseason ahead of the commitments in the preliminaries of the Europa Conference League,” Berti suggested.

The former Italy international assessed the clash at the Stadio Artemio Franchi and felt that Nerazzurri midfielder Nicolo Barella could make the difference, whilst revealing his expectations for the former Cagliari star.

“On an individual level, we could mention Calhanoglu, Lautaro, Barella,  it goes without saying that they are all players who are doing well and are confident.

“I would like to say a few more words about Barella; he will end the season on double numbers for goals.

“He has a goal in him and it’s an added value for his role, something I know about,” Berti concluded.
