Inter striker Lautaro Martinez is developing into a leader on the pitch, with his contribution to the Nerazzurri extending beyond goals.

As reported in today’s newspaper edition of La Gazzetta dello Sport, the Argentina international has taken on the responsibility of leading Inter’s attack, particularly following Romelu Lukaku’s injury, and this is reflected in his total minutes played so far.

Whereas he rarely completed a full 90 minutes last season and was always willing to be withdrawn for tactical and fitness reasons, Martinez has been an almost ever-present this term.

The former Racing Club striker has played the full game in each of Inter’s last six Serie A matches, and has done so in eight of the 10 league games this season.

Meanwhile, he has also completed 90 minutes in three of the Nerazzurri’s four Champions League matches, compared to one last year.

Martinez’s ability to bring teammates into the action has also been noted, with an improvement allowing coach Simone Inzaghi to utilise him for the full duration of matches.
